Blue Star Families Annual Military Family Survey

Information is powerful and necessary to be a change agent. Each year for the last decade, Blue Star Families has conducted their Annual Military Family Survey and we are pleased to learn more with Research Director and guest Cristin Orr Shiffer.

The value of the Survey information is incalculable, and it is widely used throughout DoD and the Bipartisan Policy Center to document needs and foment positive policy changes for military readiness and retention. In 2017, Spousal Employment (and under-employment) was the most surprising change, shifting from deployment, absence, and op tempo issues.

The survey raises awareness among Guard and Reserve families, and active duty, and next year’s survey goal is focused on what will make military families stronger. This shared experience, distilled to important target points engages the military community and the civilian communities where our families live and work.
